Private helicopter to the mountains: the transfer to the snow

Elicottero tra le montagne innevate

In winter the roads to the ski resorts fill up: queues, snow chains, hours of travel. With a private helicopter you leave from an airport or a city heliport and reach the mountains in no time, flying over the peaks. Here is how it works.

Where you leave from and where you arrive

You leave from an airport, a heliport or an authorised landing site near your home or hotel. You arrive at resorts that have a mountain airport, a landing site or an altiport: for example Samedan airport for St. Moritz or the Courchevel altiport. We check the landing point closest to your destination for every trip.

How much time you save

It depends on the route, but a drive of several hours often becomes a flight of less than an hour. Those arriving on a scheduled flight or a private jet can continue by helicopter straight from the airport, without taking the road.

The weather decides

In the mountains helicopters fly with good visibility and, as a rule, during the day. If the weather does not allow it, the pilot postpones the flight or proposes an alternative: it is a safety rule that is not up for discussion. That is why we recommend not scheduling the flight right before commitments that cannot be moved, and we always keep a plan B by road ready.

Luggage and skis

Space on board depends on the helicopter model. Skis, boots and suitcases must be declared in advance: that way we choose the right aircraft or send the bulkiest luggage by road.

Good to know

Passenger and luggage weight, daylight hours and weather conditions affect the flight. We ask you for them beforehand, to propose the right helicopter and a realistic time.

Not just snow

The helicopter is used all year round: to reach your boat on the Emerald Coast or the Amalfi Coast, for an event, for a scenic flight. You will find all the details on the private helicopter charter page.

How the flight is organised

  1. You send us departure, destination, date, approximate time and number of passengers.
  2. We check the nearest take-off and landing points and the right helicopter for people and luggage.
  3. We send you the proposal with times, aircraft and terms.
  4. On the day of the flight the pilot confirms based on the weather; if needed, we activate plan B by road.

The most popular combinations

From the airport to the ski resort, for those arriving on a scheduled flight. City to city, for a mountain weekend without traffic. Between two nearby resorts, to ski in two different places on the same trip. And, in summer, to the sea: a quick transfer to the boat or hotel.

Frequently asked questions

How many people can fly together?

It depends on the helicopter: the models most used for transfers generally carry four to six passengers, with weight limits for people and luggage. For larger groups, more aircraft or larger helicopters are used.

Can you land directly on the slopes?

No, you only land at authorised airports, altiports and landing sites. From there a short transfer takes you to your hotel or the lifts.

How far in advance should I book?

For the Christmas, New Year and February weeks a few weeks’ notice is advisable. For other periods a few days are often enough.
