Grands Prix, film festivals, regattas: some of the world’s most famous events take place just a stone’s throw from the sea. Experiencing them from a yacht is unique, but it means knowing a few rules. Here is what to know before booking a major event by yacht.
Harbour or anchorage: two different experiences
In the harbour you are at the heart of the event: you walk ashore and soak up the atmosphere on the quays. Berths, however, are very few, in high demand and often allocated well in advance. At anchor, outside the harbour, you have more privacy, more space and the chance to swim; to go ashore you use the tender.
What you can see from the boat
It is the most important question, and the answer changes from event to event. In some cases, part of the course can be seen from certain berths; from the anchorage the view is often limited. Before you book, we tell you clearly what can be seen from the available spot.
A yacht is not a ticket
Being on a yacht is not the same as having a ticket for the event. To see the race up close or attend a screening you need dedicated seats: grandstands, terraces, hospitality areas. Many guests choose the combined option: the boat as a base and seats for the key moments.
Harbour rules during the event
During major events harbours apply special rules: entry and exit times, closed areas, minimum stays, controlled access. The captain and the harbour authorities communicate them in advance.
Getting to the event
In those days cities are congested. A helicopter from the nearest airport or a chauffeur transfer saves hours. For those coming from further afield, a private jet remains the most convenient option.
When to book
As early as possible. For the most popular events, berths and terraces are among the first things to sell out. Up-to-date dates and information for each event are on our dedicated pages.
The events we organise

Frequently asked questions
Can I combine the event with a week’s charter?
Yes: many guests arrive for the event and then continue their holiday along the coast.
Can I attend the event for just one day?
In some cases, yes, with a day trip or seats ashore. It depends on the event and availability.
