Preference sheet: how to tell the crew your tastes

Tavola apparecchiata sul ponte di una barca

Before a crewed charter you are asked to fill in a short questionnaire: the preference sheet. It may seem a formality, but it is the tool that allows the crew to prepare the boat, the provisions and the week to suit you. Here is how to fill it in well.

What it is for

The boat sets off with provisions already stocked and the programme already planned. Without guidance, the crew has to guess; with a precise preference sheet, on the other hand, you find your coffee, your wines and menus suited to each guest on board.

The guests

  • Name and age of each guest, especially children.
  • Who sleeps in which cabin.
  • Special occasions: birthdays, anniversaries, a surprise to prepare.

Allergies and intolerances

This is the most important part: write down allergies, intolerances and special diets precisely, even if they seem minor. The galley on board is small and the crew must organise itself to avoid cross-contamination.

Food

  • Breakfast: sweet or savoury, what time, what must not be missing.
  • Lunch and dinner: local cuisine, fish, meat, vegetarian.
  • How many meals on board and how many ashore, if you already know.
  • Snacks and fruit for the hours at anchor.

If there is a chef on board, your answers become the basis for the week’s menus.

Drinks and wines

Still or sparkling water, juices, beers, favourite cocktails. For wines you can name labels, regions or simply the style you like. A sommelier on board can build the wine list and the pairings with the chef.

Rhythm and activities

  • What time you like to wake up and have dinner.
  • More sailing or more stops at anchor.
  • Desired activities: snorkelling, water toys, excursions ashore, restaurants.
  • Music, silence, privacy.

Services to add

This is the right moment to request a transfer, a photographer for a day or extra staff for an important dinner. You will find everything in bespoke services.

When to send it

A few weeks before departure, so the crew has time to organise the shopping. If you change your mind afterwards, no problem: just let us know.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to fill in everything?

No. Even a little information helps. Allergies and intolerances, however, must always be stated.

Who pays for the provisions?

They are usually paid from the on-board expenses fund, as we explain in what is included in the price.
