A birthday on a boat has something special about it: the sea all around, friends on board, a toast at sunset. Whether it is a milestone or a party among a few close friends, here is how to organise a birthday party on a boat.
How many guests
The first step is the number of people. Every boat has a maximum number of guests allowed, often different between day and night. A large party needs boats with plenty of outdoor space; for an intimate dinner a small yacht is enough. Take a look at our charters to get an idea.
By day or in the evening
- By day: swims, lunch at anchor, water toys. Perfect for families and sporty groups.
- At sunset: aperitifs and dinner, in the most beautiful light of the day.
- In the evening: dinner and music, perhaps returning to port under the stars.
The menu and the cake
With a private chef on board the menu can be built around the guest of honour’s tastes: raw fish, local dishes, a buffet for many people. The cake is ordered from a pastry shop and we keep it chilled until the right moment. For the wines there is the sommelier on board.
The service
If there are many guests, the boat’s crew may not be enough. Stewardesses and waiters take care of the welcome, aperitifs and table service, so the guest of honour can enjoy the party.
Music and decorations
A playlist, a few flowers, soft lighting for the evening: small details that change the atmosphere. Remember that at anchor, in the evening, respecting other boats matters: the crew will advise you where and how loud to play the music.
The memories
A photographer for the evening means having photos of everyone, the guest of honour included. And a short video to share with those who could not be there.
Getting there and back
For guests arriving from elsewhere, a transfer from the hotel to the port avoids parking and delays. For a truly special birthday, you can even arrive by helicopter.

Can we bring balloons and decorations?
Reusable decorations that cannot blow into the sea are best. We agree them with the crew beforehand.
What if the sea is rough on the day of the party?
We choose a sheltered anchorage or stay in port. For a single outing, an alternative date is agreed.
